On October 27, 2009, United States became the first country to get the availability of the Motorola Milestone. This is a slider Smartphone with full QWERTY keyboard from Motorola and it is a part of Droid phone series. The device is considered to be the one of mobile phones that uses the Google’s Android 2.0 Eclair operating system.
The display features 3.7-inch TFT LCD capacitive touch screen (854 x 480p, 16:9 aspect ratio and 265 pixels per inch). The input method features multi-touch, proximity and ambient light sensors, QWERTY keyboard, 3-axis accelerometer, digital compass, and dual microphone.
The performance of this Smartphone is powered by CPU TI OMAP 3430 Arm Cortex A8 600 MHz processor with 256 MB Mobile DDR SDRAM. It is also supported by GPU of PowerVR SGX 530 for a great graphical interface.
The Motorola Milestone or also known as Motorola Droid is released with the variety of network compatibility i.e. for United States version it runs on dual band CDMA2000/EV-DO Rev. A (800/1900 MHz), for the Europe version it runs on quad band GSM/UMTS (900/2100MHz) and for other GSM version runs on GSM/UMTS (850/1900) networks.
For internet connection, Motorola Milestone supports for high speed dual-band 3G networks with up to 10.2 Mbps HSDPA and up to 5.76 Mbps HSUPA. For wireless connection, the phone also supports for Wi-Fi. Moreover, the web browser on this Smartphone is one of the best in its class with an almost equal ability to desktop PC browser. The browser is enhanced with multi-touch feature that can enlarge or reduce a web page with the technique of screen-pinching. The loading of web pages is also faster. For data transfer, it features the Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and microUSB port (also for charging).
In term of multimedia, the Motorola Milestone has been equipped with a 5 megapixels with video capture of 720 x 480 pixels at 30 frames per second or higher, geo-tagging, dual LED flash and autofocus. The device supports for playing the audio formats such as AMR-NB/WB, MP3, PCM / WAV, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, and WMA. It also supports for playing video files with MPEG-4, H263, H264, and WMV formats. The 3.5 mm TRRS audio jack has been included for audio or music playback. To store the multimedia files, this phone has been added with an internal storage of 512 MB flash memory and it also can be expanded with removable storage up to 32 GB of capacity.
In conclusion, Motorola Milestone has a sleek design with its side sliding mobile phone. In addition, the performance of the Android 2.0 and its web browser is great for its class.
