High Tech Computer (HTC) Corporation launched globally the HTC Touch in London, on June 5, 2007. This is the PDA phone type and it is a part of the HTC Touch family. With a tablet-shaped design, the body of this Smartphone looks minimalist and classy with the 2.8 inches TFT LCD 65k colors QVGA and resolution of 320x240 pixels. Its small size compared to other Pocket PC makes it comfortable to grip.
User Interface
TouchFlo is a user interface from HTC made before the existence of HTC Sense. With TouchFlo control system, users can do many things just by swiping a finger only. This device features HTC Cube that allows accessing the 3 sub menus. One of the sub menus allows users to open email, browse the web and do other things with a single touch. The second sub menu is a list of favorite contacts while the third sub menu is used to play music, videos and to view photos.
Performance
The device is equipped with GPU TI OMAP 850 201 MHz and 64 MB of SDRAM. It also has an internal flash memory of 256 MB and can be expanded with a microSD card.
Multimedia
HTC Touch provides a 2 megapixels camera (CMOS color) and Windows Media Player that can play various audio formats like AAC, MPEG4, AAC +, eAAC and AMR and the sound quality is quite good. The video player can play 3GP, MP4 and SDP file formats.
Internet and Connectivity
HTC Touch supports tri-band GPRS (Class 10) / EDGE: GSM 900/1800/1900 (2.75 G). For wireless connections it supports Wi-Fi 802.11b/g. For local connectivity, this phone is equipped with Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR and mini USB for data transfer to other devices. Users can surf the Internet with Internet Explorer, send and receive emails, chat via Messenger, and send their documents on their own website by using Windows Live.
Battery
This phone includes a rechargeable 1100 mAh Li-ion battery with up to 200 hours standby time 5 hours of talk time.
Competitive Features
The device uses Windows Mobile 6 Professional (upgradable for some carriers) and it has capability of running the business features such as Microsoft Office. This phone allows users to open and edit the Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files. For the main menu, there are three sub menus that will appear on the main screen, Home, Weather and Launcher. With Launcher menu, users can set up the shortcut to nine favorite programs.
Overall, the HTC Touch has stylish and compact design with its large touch screen and the lovely TouchFlo user interface. It is already support Wi-Fi but sadly it does not support for 3G networks. [IS]
