After releasing the excellent Lumia 800, Nokia continue to launch another great smartphone namely the Nokia Lumia 900. Generally, this is the direct successor of its close brother but this comes with the larger dimension and some other enhancements. So now, let’s take a peek at the technical specifications of Nokia Lumia 900.
Design, Dimension and Display
The overall design of Nokia Lumia 900 seems to be very identical with its predecessor. This smartphone comes with the larger screen of 4.3 inches AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with the resolution of 480x800 pixels and 16 million of colors. The screen has been backed up by the Corning Gorilla Glass and also the Nokia ClearBlack display technology. Besides, it has the much bigger measurements of 127.8 x 68.5 x 11.5 mm and about 160 grams in weight.
Performance
In terms of performance, unfortunately there will be no significant improvement since the device has been equipped with the same Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango), the single core 1.4 Ghz Scorpion processor and the 512 MB of RAM. Moreover, users are only offered the 16 GB internal storage with no micro SD card support.
Camera
There is actually no improvement for the primary camera as it still comes with the 8-megapixel quality (3264x2448 pixels, dual-LED flash, Carl Zeiss optics, auto-focus and geo-tagging). On the other hand, the manufacturer has added the front-facing camera of 1.3 MP for video calls or chats with the quality of VGA at 30 fps. The back-camera can also be used as the camcorder with the quality of 720p at 30 fps and also the video stabilization and photo/video editor features.
Multimedia
In terms of multimedia system, Nokia Lumia 900 features the audio player which supports for MP3, WAV, eAAC+ and WMA file formats. Users will be also able to play their HD videos since the video player supports for H.264, H.263, WMV and MP4 video codecs. As the complement, the Stereo FM radio (RDS) is available to tune in the local radio station.
Connectivity
The good news is that this smartphone supports for 4G network (LTE 700 MHz). By working with this network, the device can access the internet with the speed of up to 50 Mbps DL and 25 Mbps UL. In case your region doesn’t support yet for the 4G network, this phone facilitates for the GPRS and EDGE (Class 33) networks, HSDPA (21 Mbps) and HSUPA (5.76 Mbps) networks. In addition, the built-in web browser supports for the HTML5 for the better browsing experiences. For the needs of local connectivity or data transferring, there will be the Bluetooth 2.1 (A2DP+EDR) and micro USB 2.0 version. For the wireless connections, it features the Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and also the Near Field Communication (NFC) support.
Battery
For the power supplier, the Nokia Lumia 900 has been packed with the bigger capacity of standard battery Lithium-ion 1830 mAh (BP-6EW). The battery will deliver the stand-by time of up to 300 hours (3G), talk-time of up to 7 hours (3G) and also the music playback of nearly 60 hours.
Verdict
Overall, Nokia Lumia 900 comes with several benefits including the front-facing camera, 4G-network and the bigger screen and battery capacity. However, there are no enhancements for the hardware and operating system, no micro SD card slot and also the heavier weight. As my personal judgment, with the expected price of about USD 600 the phone is still worth to purchase especially for those who need the smartphone with faster internet speed and advanced features.
