LG Optimus 3D Max - Experience the Stereoscopic 3D feature and DSLR Shot Mode

After releasing the very first Optimus 3D smartphone, the company continues its innovation by introducing the LG Optimus 3D Max to the market featuring some intriguing improvements. But the question is that do we really need a 3D phone? In order to answer this question, let’s take into account to the following technical specifications, features along with the benefits and disadvantages of obtaining this 3D-capable smartphone for your personal consideration.

The design of LG Optimus 3D Max looks really stylish measuring 126.8 x 67.4 x 9.6 mm and weighing about 148 grams. With this heaviness, the phone can be considered as the heavy-weight handset as the average weight of other smartphones out there is about 130 grams. On the other hand, the display measures 4.3 inches which is above the average of the others. Moreover, the display is backed up by the Corning Gorilla Glass 2 and of course the 3D capability. Below the screen, there are 4 touch buttons and above the display there’s a front camera as usual. The notable addition will be the existence of switchable 2D/3D hot key on the side. This button will be very useful especially for those who feel a little bit unsettled staring at the three-dimensional display all the time and need to immediately turn it off.

Towards the general performance, LG Optimus 3D Max comes packed with the dual-core 1.2 GHz processor (Cortex-A9), 1 GB of RAM and GPU PowerVR SGX540. The GPU has been well-known for its capacity to deliver the good 3D rendering as well as hardware acceleration. Unfortunately, the phone still uses the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) which can be rather unpleasant though the company planned to upgrade it to the Ice Cream Sandwich in the near future. For the storage space, the phone offers the internal storage of 8 GB which can be expanded with microSD card (up to 32 GB).

The main camera of 5 megapixels can be considered as inadequate for the latest smartphone, but fortunately it has been furnished with the stereoscopic 3D capability for the photos and videos as well as the 3D video recording (720p). Also, the company has cleverly added the great features namely the DSLR shot mode and Smart Ruler augmented reality app.

The price of LG Optimus 3D Max is about EUR 495 or $580 (off-contract). The phone will also come with the two years agreement with AT&T carrier.

In summary, LG Optimus 3D Max offers some other benefits including the 3D-capable and damage-resistant display, LG three-dimensional user interface, NFC support, 4G connection (21 Mbps), Wi-Fi (hot spot), DLNA, HDMI port for viewing your own 3D video creation on TV, A-GPS and HTML5 web browsing with Adobe Flash support. On contrary, the phone still uses the older version of Android OS, it is fairly heavy-weight and the mediocre camera. So as my final words and also the answer of the previously asked question, this smartphone will be very appropriate for those who highly enjoy 3D photo and video capturing and also the device is generally meant for multimedia and entertainment purposes.
