For the mid-range Android smartphone hunters, the LG Optimus Black P970 will be a good target. This smartphone comes with a very sleek and stylish design along with the advanced display technology. Therefore, let’s take a closer look at the following detailed technical specifications of LG Optimus Black P970 for your own personal noticing.

Design

Apparently, the company has decided to build this LG Optimus Black with a very stylish and compact design measuring only 121 x 63.5 x 9.2 mm and weighing about 109 grams. At the front side, you will see the overall black and glossy style and below the display there are four capacitive touch-sensitive buttons. The screen measures 4 inches (480x800p) with the capacitive NOVA IPS LCD technology, Corning Gorilla Glass and 233 ppi of pixel density. This IPS display has the similar superiority with iPhone 4 particularly in terms of viewing angles. There will be also the gesture control with the helpful dedicated key called the G button. With this button, users can perform several operations by simply shaking or tilting the device.

Hardware and OS

In terms of hardware specs, the device comes equipped with the single-core 1 GHz TI OMAP 3630 processor along with the 512 MB of RAM. The phone contains the built-in storage space of 2 GB which can be expanded with external memory of microSD or SDHC up to 32 GB. On the downside, this smartphone has been pre-loaded Android 2.2 (Froyo) but the company claimed that it’s upgradable to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).

Camera

For the photograohy needs, the phone boasts 5 megapixels camera with single-LED flash and autofocus along with the 2 megapixels secondary camera for video calling. The main camera can be functioned as the HD camcorder using the quality of 720p at 30 frames per second (fps). Sadly, there is no dedicated camera button and its single-LED flash won’t really help for the picture taking in low-light conditions.

Internet and Connectivity Features

To access the internet, LG Optimus Black runs on quad-band GSM and dual-band 3G through HSDPA (7.2 Mbps) and HSUPA (5.76 Mbps). There will be a complete connectivity features contained in this phone including A-GPS, microUSB 2.0, Bluetooth 2.1 (A2DP +EDR), and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n but unfortunately it doesn’t come with HDMI port.

Battery Life

As the power supplier, the standard battery of Li-ion 1500 mAh has been added to this phone. The battery will provide the talk-time of up to 6 hours and standby time of nearly 350 hours (14 days). This battery life is apparently not too good since the average of talk-time is about 8 hours and the standby time is about 20 days.

Price, Pros and Cons

The selling price of LG Optimus Black is around $264.99 - $309.99 (unlocked) in the market. The benefits of this smartphone are the light-weight and compact design, bright and vivid display, and decent camera specs. The disadvantages of this phone are the plastic casing which may get easily scratched, the battery life which is below the average and this phone still uses the outdated Android OS version. [IS]
