Roku is a decoder that connects to TV from the Internet. Stream movies, TV shows from Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Hulu Plus, and Crackle, as well as from Pandora transmits music, games, news, sports and even more.
One of the most interesting features of the recent Rokus, including the Roku Premier Plus, the Roku Ultra and the somewhat older device Roku 3 and 4: is the headphone jack of the remote control. If your Roku comes with a set of headphones, you have this feature.

It's Quite Elegant
Connect any headset to the remote control and you can listen to the audio from your TV on the other side of the room. The relatively long range in Wi-Fi-based remote control means you can probably walk around your house without missing anything.
There's only one problem
Mute your TV speakers. That's fine most of the time, but what if you want to keep listening to the game in the garage while another person is still looking down? Or do you extend your music in the backyard? A simple trick allows you to carry it out, and you do not even need third-party software.
- Simply connect the headphone jack. You will see a volume icon on the right side of the screen.
- You will also hear the audio in your headphones, but not in the speakers. Press the volume buttons on the side of the remote control in this order:
“That Goes up twice, Down twice, Goes up three times, Go down three times.”
This secret code will allow your Roku to play audio on the speakers of your TV and remote control simultaneously as per the Roku.com experts. You'll also briefly see a volume icon.
- Boom, what you have now is the best fit for such scenarios. One person can leave the room without missing anything, while another person can continue watching on the television. It's something small, sure, but it will surely be useful from time to time. I like to use a portable speaker as a quick alternative to the audio system of a complete house.
- When you are finished, unplug the headphone jack. You will see the icon on the right.
- Now the audio will only come from the TV speakers. If you plug the headphone jack again, you will have to re-enter the code
There is only one disadvantage:
Depending on the amount of Wi-Fi interference in your home, the audio may not be synchronized. Or sometimes you get Roku no audio error on either of the device. This can be disorienting if you use your headphones in the same room on the TV speakers, but once you leave the room you will not notice.
For no audio error, you can try these:
- Examine and ensure that the volume setting is adequate.
- Sometimes, the mute feature gets auto enabled, so also check the mute settings.
- Next thing to check is the audio connectors. Look out both ends of the connectors; they must be properly attached to both ends.
- Make variation in the input channel/port for Roku. This helps a lot to eliminate Roku no audio error. Use another available input port that you are aware of that is functioning well.
- Lastly, check the cables. Cables connections must not be loosed. Try new cables if available. For AVR or sound bar devices, make connections as per the connector’s indicator. Mostly, but not all composite cables have red or white indicators for connectors.
That’s it; you have enough on your plate now. So, start managing the Audio of your Roku in your own way!
