Organizing kitchen drawers will help you figure out the junk items that you love throwing away at the dustbin. However, the big question is how to do cleaning and organizing to ensure that everything is in tip-top shape.

The first time homeowners often find it difficult if it comes to kitchen cleaning and organizing drawers. Don’t worry, let me guide you with my experience.

Purging is important! There is no use of keeping your drawers occupied with the junk items. Before you go out for shopping organizers and other necessary items, always look at your drawers and assess if all items are needed and should go back in the same place after cleaning. I found some broken kitchen gadgets and bag clips in the drawer during my last clean-up project.

Use Right Organizers

Drawer organizers are very effective to clean the mess. If you have small drawers, it is possible to do without them. However, you should always use these for the large drawers, as things can float around easily and mix with each other. These organizers help you optimize the space of your drawers.

Consider Different Spaces

Some kitchen drawers are easily accessible whereas for others, you need to exert pressure to pull them all the way out. It’s frustrating, especially when you are in hurry. Sometimes, vertical organization creates problem as you may find it difficult to reach out to the back of the organizer. In that case, rotate the organizer sideways; it will quickly open up the back of the drawer for organizing larger items.

Make It Beautiful

Try to beautify the drawers. A great way to do that is to use wipeable papers to cover the inner surfaces of the drawers. On every weekend, I take out the papers, clean those and put them back into the drawers after drying. If possible, paint the outer side of these drawers bright. Cooking in a pretty and colourful kitchen will be a lovely experience for you.

Keep Like Items Together

Don’t you think it is a good idea to keep things organized so that you get quickly whatever and whenever you need something?  Use separate drawers to store spices and dry fruits. Use a drawer for the serving plates, soup balls and spoons. In another drawer, store your cups, dishes and glasses. For other utensils such as pans, use another drawer. Use a holder to store accessories like scissors and knifes.

Get Rid of Bulky Packaging

Sometimes, we store items with packaging intact. Removing the bulky packaging is the smartest way to tidy up the drawers and make room for more necessary items. The idea works in both pantry and drawers. Take out K-cups from the bulky boxes and see how nicely they fit into your drawer. From now on, it will be easier to see if you have enough of any particular item or need to buy it immediately.
