For those who do not recognize yet Samsung Captivate is an AT&T (U.S provider) version of Samsung Galaxy S. The phone was announced in June, 2010 and available for the market in July, 2010. The device has been equipped with Super AMOLED capacitive touch-screen and the magnificent Gorilla Glass display. It also packs a TouchWiz 3.0 user interface.
At a glance, the form factor and the overall design of Samsung Captivate is different with the Galaxy S. The phone still having the same dimension of 122.4 x 64.2 x 9.9 mm, but it is a bit lighter with the weight of 118 grams. The display packs a 4-inch screen (~ 233 ppi pixel densities) with 16 million colors and 480x800 pixels resolution. Identical with other touch-screen smartphone in the market, the phone also provides multi-touch input method, accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, touch-sensitive controls, and proximity sensor for auto turn-off.
In terms of performance factor, the Samsung Captivate boasts 1 GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor with PowerVR SGX540 GPU and Hummingbird chipset. The phone uses the Android 2.1 (Eclair) as its operating system and it can be upgraded to Android 2.2 or 2.3 versions.
For data and connectivity, the device is capable of running the GPRS Class 12 (32 - 48 kbps), EDGE Class 12, and 3G network via HSDPA (up to 7.2 Mbps) and HSUPA (5.76 Mbps). For wireless connection, the device provides the Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, and Wi-Fi hotspot (Android 2.2 only). In order to deliver complete online features, the phone is packed with Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, Google Talk, Picasa integration and social networking integration. The browser supports for reality screen feature that offers the augmented reality experience. Moreover, the phone has been added with the newer version of Bluetooth 3.0 to connect to other devices, and micro USB for connecting phone to PC.
In terms of camera factor, the Samsung Captivate comes with the 5 megapixels camera that can capture image or photo with the maximum resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels. The camera features include the autofocus, geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection. The camera also supports for HD video recording with the quality of 720p at 30 frames per second. The mDNIe (mobile Digital Natural Image engine) technology provides the sharper and clearer display in viewing videos or photos.
For multimedia entertainment, the Samsung Captivate brings the audio and video player that supports for MP4/DivX/WMV/H.264/H.263 video formats and MP3/WAV/eAAC+/AC3/FLAC audio formats. For multimedia storage, the phone has an internal storage of 8 GB/16GB and it can be expanded for extra space with micro SD card up to 32 GB.

Overall, the Samsung Captivate has been equipped with the latest technology such as SUPER AMOLED display, TouchWiz UI, the augmented reality and the mDNIe features.
