If you’re looking for the Android smartphone with a bit unique screen design, then you may want to check out the Samsung Galaxy S Advance (I9070). This handset comes packed with the glass curved display so that it can naturally follow the shape of the owner's face. Now, let’s have a look at the following specs overview of this smartphone for your personal consideration.

Design

The overall design of Samsung Galaxy S Advance is similar with some other Galaxy phones. The device measures 123.2 mm in height, 63 mm in width, 9.69 mm in thickness and weighs about 120 grams. Having these measurement and body-weight, the phone is apparently thicker and heavier as compared to Samsung Galaxy S2. The display measures 4 inches WVGA 16M Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with the low screen resolution of 480x800 resolution and 223 ppi pixel density. With these screen resolution and pixel density, the device may deliver the poor viewing angles and outdoor visibility. But fortunately the display has been protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass.

Performance

In terms of hardware specs, the phone has been equipped with the dual-core 1 GHz processor (dual ARM Cortex-A9) along with the 768 MB RAM and 8/16 GB internal storage (microSD card support). By having these specs, the phone can be considered as the upper midrange smartphone as the latest high-end smartphone has been packed with the faster quad-core processor. For the operating system and user interface, the phone sports the TouchWiz UI combined with the outdated Android 2.3 (Gingerbread instead of Ice Cream Sandwich.

Camera

For capturing photo or video, the phone provides the 5 megapixels main camera and the 1.3 megapixels front-facing camera for video calling. The back camera can capture photo with the max resolution of 2592x1944 pixels along with the auto-focus, single-LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection features. This camera can also record HD video with the 720p quality (@30fps).

Internet and Connectivity

The phone runs on GPRS and EDGE Class 12, HSDPA (14.4 Mbps), HSUPA (5.76 Mbps) to gain access to the internet. For the wireless networking and local connection, there will be Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 3.0 (A2DP), NFC (Optional) and microUSB 2.0 available for users. Unfortunately, the phone doesn’t support for the faster internet connection through the 4G network.

Battery Life

To supply the power to the phone, the standard battery of li-Ion 1500 mAh has been included in this phone which may deliver the stand-by time up to 570 hours on 2G mode and up to 550 hours on 3G mode. The battery can also provide the talk-time up to 15 hours on 2G mode and up to 7 hours and 20 minutes on 3G mode.

Price, Pros and Cons

The selling price of Samsung Galaxy S Advance is about $408. The benefits of this phone are the huge display, innovative glass curved design and decent processor. On the downsides, the phone provides the low resolution and pixel density, the mediocre camera, outdated Android platform and it lacks the swift 4G internet connection. But overall, this phone is best for those who look for the upper mid-range Android smartphone. [IS]
