Perhaps because nowadays there-™s an assumption that by having two or more active SIM cards can save your phone-™s bill, then the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer has launched the HTC Desire VC to the market (India and Indonesia). This handset has the capability to run on two networks namely CDMA 2000 (800MHz) and tri-band GSM/GPRS (900/1800/1900 MHz) as one of its notable and useful features.

Perhaps because nowadays there’s an assumption that by having two or more active SIM cards can save your phone’s bill, then the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer has launched the HTC Desire VC to the market (India and Indonesia). This handset has the capability to run on two networks namely CDMA 2000 (800MHz) and tri-band GSM/GPRS (900/1800/1900 MHz) as one of its notable and useful features. The following is the spec overview of this Android smartphone along with the features, price, pros and cons just for your personal consideration.

In terms of design, HTC Desire VC comes with a very sleek style with the dimension of 119.5 x 62.3 x 9.42 mm and body-weight of about 118 grams (with battery). At the front side, you will see the huge 4.0 inches display which comes along with 16 million colors, 480x800 pixels screen resolution, 233 ppi pixel density and multi-touch feature. This is definitely not the greatest display specs that you can get from this mid-range Android smartphone.

To back up the overall performance, this device has been equipped with the single-core 1 GHz Cortex-A5 Snapdragon processor, 512 MB RAM, Adreno 200 GPU, Li-ion 1650 mAh battery and 4 GB internal storage (expandable with microSD card up to 32 GB). For the operating system and user interface, the company has pre-loaded the Android OS 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) together with the latest HTC Sense UI 4.0 version. With this hardware spec, the handset can be considered to be upgradable to the latest Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean).

For the digital photography needs, the device sports the 5 megapixels camera with auto-focus, single LED flash and geo-tagging feature. When using this camera, user can capture photo with the maximum resolution of 2592х1944 pixels. The camera can be used to record WVGA video but unfortunately user cannot perform video-calling since there’s no secondary camera found in this smartphone. For the multimedia needs, the device has the music player (with Beats audio enhancement) that supports for several popular audio formats which include mp3, eaac+, wma and wav. As the alternative music player, there will be also the built-in stereo FM radio with RDS (Radio Data Station). The video player will allow user to watch the videos in mp4, h.263, h.264 and wmv format.

To access the internet with 3G connection, the device uses the CDMA2000 1xEV-DO (Rev.A) with the data speed up to 3.1 Mbps. On the other hand, user can only access the 2G network when using the GSM/GPRS network. The default web browser has been loaded with HTML capability along with the Adobe Flash Lite for the full web browsing experience. For the local connection and wireless networking, the phone comes packed with the DLNA, Bluetooth 3.0 (A2DP), microUSB v2.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n (Wi-Fi hotspot).

The selling price of HTC Desire VC is around $299 (off-contract) and so far it’s only available in Indonesia and India (as informed by HTC’s official site). The benefits of having this smartphone are the dual SIM feature (dual standby), stylish design, big screen and decent hardware specs. On the downsides, the phone comes with the below average display specs and also it has not been furnished with NFC and 4G capability. [IS]
