Geek.com - Typing on a virtual keyboard is really just a bad experience. There are those that are less bad than others, but it’s all still bad. We’ve accepted these bad keyboards because we have to in order to get the biggest screen possible on our phones. That’s why one of the best selling accessories for the iPad is a keyboard, and why the new Microsoft Surface has two different keyboards available at launch.

Not everyone wants a tablet, though, and really our phones are just as powerful as these tablets that are being made right now. I’m obviously not alone in this, because there’s a Kickstarter for a pocketable keyboard called Journo that offers a solution.

The idea isn’t particularly new, but one that’s been missing from the mobile ecosystem for a while. The Journo keyboard opens up from a small square into a laptop-sized keyboard with physical buttons. The gadget connects to any of your devices via Bluetooth, and once you lock the different pieces in place after unfolding it you’re good to type on any flat surface.

You can type all you want on this thing, since the Journo is supposed to have a rechargeable battery capable of delivering one month of use. Throw in a stand for your tablet or phone and you’ve got the missing materials you needed to write that long email or extended instant messaging conversation. All you need to do in order to get one is participate in their Kickstarter. [IS]
