Softpedia.com - South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics is expected to enter the top three smartphone makers list in the next quarter, courtesy of new, highly appealing smartphones. The company has unveiled some great devices running under Android lately, but it seems that more of them are set to arrive on the market in the not too distant future.

According to Samsung Securities, the finance and investment arm of the leading South Korean company, cited by smartphenom.com, LG will benefit from a great next quarter, and will become the third smartphone maker in the world in the timeframe.

The company is expected to grab 5.8 percent of the market in the next three months, and the newly unveiled LG Android Optimus G will help it. Additionally, two other devices will push the company to new heights, namely V2 and GK, at least this is what Samsung’s investment arm suggests.

No specific info on what these two devices are all about has emerged until now, yet both of them are expected to be high-end, since the company calls them successors of Optimus G. Flagship devices have always proved great for manufacturers, yet that doesn’t mean that mid- and low-end phones should be left aside, and LG might actually be set to release these or other new devices on shelves with more affordable price tags attached to them.

As mentioned above, V2 and GK are still a mystery for the time being, yet we might also expect for one of them to be released as LG’s own Nexus smartphone, which has been long rumored to be based on the Optimus G.

Before the end of this year, LG is also expected to release a successor for its large 5-inch LG Optimus Vu smartphone, although a specific launch date was not provided as of yet. LG has been long fighting to gain more market share in the smartphone area, and it seems that it might have finally managed to find the proper recipe for that. [IS]
