This is slightly odd news as it was only last month we were telling readers about the release of the LG Optimus Vu in regions other than Asia. This phone, or phablet as some prefer to call it has a quad-core processor and massive 5-inch display and a lot to recommend it and yet today we heard leaks already of a successor, the LG Optimus Vu 2 (Vu II), which could be another challenger for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (Note II).

Phonereview.co.uk - This is slightly odd news as it was only last month we were telling readers about the release of the LG Optimus Vu in regions other than Asia.

There’s no news yet on a release date for the LG Optimus Vu 2 but it does seem rather strange that a follow-up to the original Vu already appears to be well in progress when the first Vu is only just hitting the shelves in some regions. For those who haven’t yet opted for the original Vu (titled LG Intuition on Verizon in the US) or made up their mind about the Galaxy Note 2 (another smartphone of the large-screened variety), the Vu 2 could be one to consider as it will offer some changes.

The original Vu has 1GB of RAM but the leaks for the Vu 2 say it will have a double the RAM at 2GB, (matching that of the Galaxy Note 2) and a 1.5GHz Qualcomm 8960 dual-core processor with LTE radio. It will release running Android 4.0 ICS, according to Engadget sourced from Bad IT Tong but that’s a little disappointing, as we would rather have had the Jelly Bean variety. However maybe that indicates a sooner rather than later appearance.

Other specs and features for the LG Optimus Vu 2 are a 5-inch IPS display with resolution of 1024 x 768, 16GB of internal storage expandable up to 32GB with microSD, an 8-megapixel rear camera, 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera and 2150mAh battery so nothing new there. No news yet on regions or dates for availability or pricing but of course we’ll keep you informed as we hear more. [IS]
